Twitter did something unique with their “Site down for maintenance” message. They introduced the internet to the fail whale graphic. I think this was pretty ingenious on their part. First, it distracts the users from the fact that they can’t actually use their favorite website at the moment. Second, it has provided quite a bit of what I call “meme marketing” for twitter. You can find people mimicing the fail whale image all over the internet. As we all know …
I ran across this interesting post today. The photographer took photographs of refrigerators for a variety of individuals. It is interesting to me what you can tell about person just by the stuff in their refrigerator.
A bartender’s fridge. He goes to sleep at 8AM and wakes up at 4PM daily.
A hunter’s freezer. He just shot a 12pt buck.
A short-order cook. Why is there a rattlesnake in her freezer?
I guess I don’t need to even write that this one is a …
Depositphotos is relatively new on the stock image world, but they have really exploded since their debut in 2009. Already they are hosting over 3.5 million royalty free images. Since they are now offering free photos as part of a trial, I thought I would sign up. Signing up was really easy, but you will need to register with a paypal account or credit card. The trial gives you access to 5 free image downloads each day.

“I think you have the best looking icons of anyone on the web.”
I couldn’t agree more. Icons-land has an extensive collection of stock icons, vector icons, and emoticons. A lot of stock icon sites are difficult to use, forcing you to sledge through image after image. Icons-land has a clean, easy-to-navigate site, with clear link menus.
Each collection gives details on price, format, and sizes; therefore making selection easy. Icons are a great addition to websites because they transcend (for …

You have to be careful to find the right guy for the job.
What can be outsourced?

If you are a “font nerd” or just generally interested in typography, these sites might already be known to you. For everyone else, here’s a website roundup:
Llamafont.com is a hilarious website, where you can use “llama font” to spell things out. You can then save the text, share on facebook or send to a friend. Although this site only has one font, it’s a funny and unusual one.
Steedicons.com, offers a set of 300 icons for $30. What a great idea, …
Today I got a notice of a new stock image website, StockFresh. This site was started by the same group of founders who started stock.xchng and Stockxpert. I am a big fan of stock.xchng so I am sure StockFresh will live up to expectations.
I grabbed a few images from their website to post here:
As you can see from the photos above, stockfresh offers more than just stock photos. There are many vectors and graphics available too.
If you’re a photographer, …
