This is round one of the best free photo apps for your Android system. The general downside of most photos apps out there is the lack of front-facing camera option, what if I want to take self-photos in yellow light?…However, the cost (free) and the capabilities (many) make these apps more than beneficial even without the front-facing options. Also, with the plethora of apps for the apple phone that aren’t on android (I’m talking to you instagram!), its exciting that anyone out there is giving app love to the android users. So I’ve listed three of my favorite free photo apps, with examples.

FxCamera is a great photo app. It has the following:
ToyCam
Polandroid (witty)
Fisheye
SymmetricCam
Warhol
And Normal
This camera is great as it puts all these cameras into one app and its super easy to use. After you click on the camera type you click one button to take the photo. The downside is that it is lacking in advanced features. However, it’s a great app if you want the special effects without having to learn more advanced camera settings. Plus, its free!
Retro Camera is fun photo app and has the following types of camera:
The Bärbl
Little Orange Box
Xolaroid 2000
pinhole camera
FudgeCan
I really like this app because it gives you a virtual version of these cameras. Plus, it gives you the option to learn “about the camera” which gives you an example of a photo and what the camera is best used for. I think this a great beginner app as it gives you more filtering options, plus the ability to learn about each camera. Also, at the end it puts your photos on a dry line just like they are straight out of the dark room.
The demo version of the Vignette Camera is free (the upgraded version will cost you about $4) but is full of different photo options, too many to list in detail, but generally are as follows:
Vignette
Toy Camera
Vintage
Colour highlight
Colour Swap
Lens effects
And many, many more.
Plus each of these sections has more detailed options. This app is great if you want more control of the manipulation of your photos. It is also great for beginners because you can choose one setting and take all your photos with it. For a free app, this really gives you a lot.
Well that is part one, let me know what you think as I compile part II.

Great post. I downloaded the vignette demo and the retro camera. Now I have just spent the last 30 minutes taking pictures of random stuff in my living room and marveling at how pretty the pictures turn out.
Jo,

Each of the apps listed has a hyperlink to the android store. Or if you go to the “Market” app on your android device, you should be able to search for each app by name.
